Wistmans Wood images form part of the ARCADIA project I started writing about in my previous posts. Wistmans Wood is an absolutely magical Site of Special Scientific Interest and the National Nature Reserve. Composed of ancient oaks, some of which reach 400 to 500 years old, this prehistoric forest is what is left from the ancient forests covering the whole of Devon before they were cleared by the hunter-gatherers approximately 5000 BCE.
